JMU transfers defensive back D’Angelo Ponds to Indiana Hoosiers

Yet another former JMU player has followed his old head coach into the transfer portal. JMU transfer defensive back D’Angelo Ponds Saturday afternoon against the Indiana Hoosiers. He announced the move via his own Twitter page.

He was one of the most sought-after defensive players in the transfer portal, receiving 22 scholarship offers since joining on April 26.

Ponds had an incredible season for James Madison in 2023 and was named an On3 True Freshman All-American. He totaled 52 tackles, 12 passes deflected, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

D’Angelo Ponds played high school football at Chaminade-Madonna Prep (FL), where he was a three-star prospect. According to the On3 Industry Rankinga proprietary algorithm that aggregates ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
