Fort Wayne Police: Glenbrook Square Mall closed – Indianapolis News | Weather Indiana | Indiana traffic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) – Fort Wayne Police announced Saturday afternoon that Glenbrook Square Mall is closed and people were asked to avoid the area.

What led to the closure was not immediately known, but social media and news media reports said a shooting occurred Saturday around 2:30 p.m. News 8 was unable to reach the dispatch center for information.

Shootings also took place in the shopping center on September 1 and July 8 last year. In each incident, one person was injured in the shootings.

An emergency alert Saturday just after 3 p.m. from police read: “FWPD ADVISED THE GLENBROOK MALL AT 4201 COLDWATER RD. IS CLOSED. AVOID THE AREA. IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE PLEASE CONTACT 911. JLC 1504”

A police press release said: “A press release (sic) will be released as soon as more information is known. The mall will be closed for the rest of the day.”

The city of about 265,000 residents is located about 120 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
