Nick Saban hilariously rails against social media critics

Former Alabama Crimson Tide football head coach Nick Saban is still a recent retiree, but hasn’t been shy in front of the cameras. While he has always been willing to share his opinions, even some unpopular ones, Saban continues to speak his mind.

Recently, Saban discussed the current state of college football and its trajectory. However, a recent public appearance was highlighted by a tirade against social media critics.

β€œIt amazes me that a man would sit in his basement, probably in his mother’s house, probably in his underwear, probably overweight, and post something on the internet and anyone would care what he thinks,” Saban said.

Saban’s relationship with the media and fans on social media has always been rocky. Now, however, he decides not to hold back and let his frustration grow into hilarious sound bites.

Yet he is not wrong. Social media has become a megaphone for fans to express their thoughts, both positive and negative. The problem is that coaches and players read these messages too, and they can become rat poison, unnecessarily boosting an individual’s ego, or they can be hurtful.

Either way, Saban argues that even the most unqualified people now have a way to make their voices heard by millions. While it can be a good thing, it can often also be harmful.
