Fatal double stabbing Northbridge – NBC Boston

One person is dead and another injured following a double stabbing after a fight broke out on the Town Common in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge, Massachusetts, state police say.

Sky Ranger captured the scene as police and firefighters responded to the incident sometime after 9 p.m. Church and Park streets were cordoned off with red crime scene tape as investigators processed evidence throughout the night until the road was cleared and reopened around 6 a.m.

Police said two stabbing victims were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center. One of the victims, a 20-year-old man, was pronounced dead. The other victim, a 17-year-old man, is in critical condition.

There appeared to be an altercation involving several people on bicycles. A weapon was found at the scene.

Authorities say a 17-year-old boy is in custody and is expected to be arraigned Monday in the Worcester Juvenile Court – Milford Session.

A man who has owned a barbershop on this street for 36 years says a nearby park could be a problem area in the city.

“It seems like they always meet in the park and sleep there or whatever, but the police never really. Not much happens here. I mean, we’re a country town.”

Several ambulances and police cars responded to the incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
