Authorities find body of Utah man missing since November

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah – The body of a Utah man missing since November has been found.

A news release from the Brigham City Police Department reports that Paul Illum, 50, of Brigham City, was found dead on private property in his vehicle. He was located at the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office on May 2 around 12:45 p.m

His death was probably suicide, but the cause has not yet been determined. An autopsy will be performed.

Illum was last heard from on November 8 at 10am. At the time of the disappearance, a family member told authorities that Illum had “suffered a traumatic brain injury.” Before he disappeared, “he seemed out of control and was not behaving normally.”

His phone was pinged on Nov. 8 in Garden City, Utah, before surveillance video showed him at the Minnetonka Market & Cafe in St. Charles in his vehicle, a white 2018 Honda Accord with Utah license plate number G682MU.

His AirPods were later pinged in Paris, Idaho.

Illum’s family has searched for him for countless hours and authorities have used all available resources to find him.

Illum’s family is “grateful to everyone who helped them through this difficult time.”

“The Brigham City Police Department would like to extend their sincere condolences to Mr. Illum’s family and friends. We ask that the family is not inconvenienced during the grieving period. If you or someone you know may be dealing with thoughts of self-harm, please contact 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline,” the department said in a news release.

The BCPD appreciates the assistance and continued communication from the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office during this search.
