Entering this game, the teams were seperated by just two points in the overall standings.
The game was one of the best CSL games of the season with plenty of action at both ends. The end result was a frustrating 1-1 draw for both teams. Helio Pereira opened the scoring for the home town team with a fantastic goal in the 21st minute. Portugal FC seemed in control when Denny Velastegui picked up a straight red card for Brampton in the second half. However, it was Orlin Chalmers who was able to break free on a breakaway and tie the game up in the 67th minute. Portugal FC pressured strongly late in the game, desperately looking for the deciding goal with plenty of great opportunities but were unable to put any by Brampton keeper Adrian Ibanez. The result leaves Portugal FC in 4th place in the International Division with 15 points through 11 games. The team's next fixture is August 15 when the team travels to London to take on London City. Game time on August 15 is 8:45 at Cove Road park. |
